BIOGRAPHY

Chief Ethelbert Iloh, was born on 12th February 1958 in Jos, Plateau State to Late Mr. Sydney Onyeama Iloh and Ezinne (Mrs.) Felicia Chinyere Iloh. He was the first child of his parent’s blissful marriage. Ethelbert was born with a silver spoon and loved by all and sundry.

The Nigerian civil war dealt a great blow to him and his siblings as they lost their father to the gruesome war. This ugly and bitter experience however, made our dad an automatic and instant father to his other siblings, thereby moulding him into the great icon he was.

Chief Ethelbert Iloh started his primary school at a tender age at Barakin-Ladi, Jos, Plateau State which was abruptly interrupted by Nigerian Civil War of 1966 – 1970. Ethelbert later continued his primary education/school at Central School Isikwe Achi, Enugu State, but completed at New Bethel Primary School, Onitsha, Anambra State. He had his high school at Washington Memorial Grammar School, Onitsha, Anambra State. Chief Ethelbert Iloh  was very brilliant and aced all his subjects. He loved football, played in school, and was held in high admiration by all, especially by ladies (smiles).

After secondary school, Chief Ethelbert Iloh worked at the then Anambra State Co-operative Wholesale Association (ACWA), Onitsha, as a Sales Representative. His love for education and to acquire higher knowledge made him to enrol for a distant learning programme with London School of Business Studies, London, Britain, where he majored in Salesmanship/Marketing, and graduated with a distinction grade.

In 1980, armed with Salesmanship/Marketing professional certificate, he made a quest for greener pasture and travelled to Makurdi, Benue State, where he got an employment with BENIMO NIGERIA LIMITED as a Sales Manager. The company was into supply and installation of Aluminium roofing sheets, Aluminium profiles, and Accessories. There our dad mastered the skill and business so well, and this led him to been sent to Abuja to open a new branch office in 1981. He became the Branch Manager of the new office and grew the business significantly.

In 1982, he and a colleague ventured out and set up a joint company. The company excelled greatly, as Ethelbert was the brain behind the wheels. He was very sound with calculations, estimations, and quotations. Later same year, our dad took the bull by the horn and founded his own company – STANCAL NIGERIA LIMITED. He built the company and by 1985 our dad had incorporated fabrications and installation of aluminium doors and windows into the business.

STANCAL NIGERIA LIMITED became a household name, with several branches for all supply, fabrication and installation of aluminium sheets, aluminium profiles, doors, and windows in the new developing capital, Abuja. Suffice it to say that Ethelbert was one of the most successful young men of his time. Under this company, he had over twenty-five(25) employees and trained several young men who are still in the line of business and making impact. Quite a number of his apprentice was from his community.

This gesture and many other philanthropic acts later earned him one of the most prestigious chieftaincy titles in Igbo land. He was given a chieftaincy title of Ozo Ochiri Ozuo 1 of Isikwe Achi, Oji-River L.G.A, Enugu State on 1st January 1991.

Chief Ethelbert Iloh got wedded to Mrs. Racheal N. Iloh (Nee Nzeakor) on 6th March, 1982 at St James Anglican Church, Suleja, Niger State. This union was blessed with five(5) children. Over the years, he also took a second wife-Mrs. Cecelia C. Iloh (Nee Agu) in 1986, and the marriage was blessed with six(6) children. All his children are educated, as Chief had a knack for education and success. Among his children are Engineers, Architects, Educationist, Medical Practitioners, Businessmen and Women.

Chief (as he fondly called by his northern friends) was one of the first Achi man that started living in Suleja, Niger State and Abuja environs. His house was a home to Achi people and others from Oji-River Local Government Area. He was accommodating and providing to them as brothers and sisters regardless of one’s village or town. Chief Ethelbert Iloh was the pioneer chairman of Achi Improvement Union and Oji-River L.G.A meeting in Suleja, Niger State/Abuja. For a long time, both meetings were held in his large compound at Suleja.

TRIBUTE TO MY DEAR BELOVED HUSBAND

Mine, you are such a loving, compassionate, and kind-hearted man. You came into my life and gave it a meaning. I still remember those early days when we first met, it’s like yesterday. We both passed through thick and thin, and grew the business and family together. I recall the joy you had when we got married and started having the children. You were so loving and took good care of myself and the kids. The husband of my youth was an intelligent man, hardworking, and fun to be with.

He always had a can-do spirit and always put the family first. He was so particular about the children’s education and wellbeing. A very handsome man and was cherished by all and sundry. I find it so hard to pen words down on your sudden departure. I cannot explain it, but life and death are in the hands of the almighty God our creator.

Oh, it is finished… the battle is over; may the Lord continue with us till we meet to part no more.

Your Loving WIfe

Iloh Racheal N.

TRIBUTE TO A WONDERFUL HUSBAND

I thank God for the opportunity and privilege of being the wife and partner of this wonderful, loving, caring, kind and God-fearing man. The best of everything was at my disposal, whether i asked for it or not.

When we had problems, resolving our issues were always magical. I was blessed with the best husband and father to all my children and his name was Chief Ozo Ethelbert Chukwuemeka Iloh.

You were more than a husband, the love of my life, my everything, my best friend, my world, my gossip partner, Onye-eze as i fondly call you. He understood the true meaning of our marriage. His life taught me mysteries, love, kindness and his death , the fear of God. Thank God I had the opportunity to share his dreams, hopes, love, friendship etc

He was a man of the people who stood by his family all the time. A hero to all who know him, his love was unconditional. A man who believes in sharing and caring, who puts smiles in peoples faces, so full of life, A bigger star in his own right than most of us.

You will forever be in my heart and the love I have for you will never ever die. The children and I will always remember and pray for you.

May God forgive your sins and grant you Paradise until we meet to part no more.

Adieu my love! Adieu Onye-eze

DAD LIKE NO OTHER

Daddy, your demise remains the rudest shock and heaviest blow I have recieved in life.

Was with you few hours before your home call but never knew I was spending the last moment with you. O death, where is the sting? O, grave, where is the victory? (1 Corinthians 15:55).

I stand bold to say that death has lost the battle, as heaven gained a precious soul the day you left.

My dad was God fearing, a great achiever, brilliant and hard-working man. He had a good, caring, and compassionate heart. Dad had a knack for education and success, hence would go any length to ensure we had the best of education. I recall vividly how elated you were when my SSCE result came in with all A’s and how you celebrated my degree certificate. Two weeks before your demise, you celebrated my success in an international professional examination. Little did i know it was the last Congratulations I would hear from you my beloved dad.

His life dream is that all his children would be educated, and this God helped him to achieve.

Dad was my hero, as he taught me the way of life, how to relate with people, how to take things one-step-at-a-time, never to bear grudges, how to drive..the list goes on I will not say life would not be the same without you, for I see you in me and trust your legacies would live on in us.

I know God has deposited in me the necessary things to wear and fit into these big shoes you left.

Rest on Chief Iloh, Rest on Ochiriozuo

Engr. Iloh Stanley O.

My Daddy was an incredible man. He was a pillar for his family and made sure his children had the guidance needed. I am so grateful for my dad and miss him every day. I remember my dad and the great memories we shared, He insisted i must progress through school even when at a tender age i felt i could continue, He was there till i caught the fire of education and continuous learning which shaped my life.

He was in my camp during my service year to check up on me, even when i felt he shouldn’t have bothered (believing i was already a grown man). My dad gave me two major pieces of advice as an adult regarding family and personal conduct which have been my guiding principle in life next to the bible.

There was no negative situation I faced since childhood to adult stage that he was not available to help, counsel, and support me even when i wilfully pushed myself into some of those situations. My dad would shake the earth and move mountains just to be there for me and he did.

I remember him always and wished I had more years to express my profound love for him and celebrate his 70 years birthday which i promised him we would celebrate.

In love and faith, Daddy i remember and miss you every day.

Dad i never knew you would leave us so suddenly, you were a hardworking and intelligent man full of life. You tried your best in helping people, i am saddened that death took you away, but God said in all things we should give him thanks.

Your death enlarged the emptiness in my heart, wished i had more time with you to understand the past, present, and future.

Its quite unfortunate, we will miss you Dad.

Just like play, suddenly it dawns on me that you are gone, the memory of how it all happened is still so fresh in my mind. Dad your departure has just created a huge vacuum in the family, only God knows the reason he allowed it in time like this.

Dad goodbye till we meet in bosom of the Lord.

My beloved father, sometimes I wish for you to come back, but I don’t want you to suffer again. You struggled to live, but death took you away from us. I am so happy you came to my house two weeks before death took you away from me. My husband and I hosted you and gave us your blessings that faithful day, little did we know that was the last day we would be seeing you.

You are my hero, a compassionate father that loved his children and a father that can even live for others, but God knows why you have to leave so soon.

I know you are with me, and I will always love and miss you with all my heart.

Years may come and go, but your memory will never die in my heart beloved Daddy.

Until we meet again, rest on Daddy.

TRIBUTE TO MY BELOVED FATHER

It is sad and hard to belief that we won’t see you again to share the jokes, happy and sad moment, you couldn’t even wait to benefit from your fatherly labour.

You were so jovial, generous, caring, responsive to the burden of those around you, everyone felt your impact. You taught me that the beauty of life is not in the quantity of the life, but in the quality of that life and that the happiness of life is based on how happy others can be because of you.

It is unfortunate that you never lived for me to be able to reciprocate your love to me, but i promise that to the best of my ability i will always make you to smile wherever you are.

I love you so much because you were the only father that i knew all my life till now and i will still love you till when we meet to part again at the bosom of God.

Daddy I love you so much, but God loves you more, fare well.

Adieu Daddy

Your beloved son

ILOH CHAMBERLAIN O.

Every man’s life ends the same way (Death), it is only the details of how he lived and how he died that distinguishes one man from another. A father is a male parent, a man who has begotten a child and his role in the family is a pivotal one. According to the biblical standard, a father is called upon to be a leader and protector for the family and to be an exammple of Christ’s love towards his children. It is by priviledge that God brought me into this world through you.

Death denied me the opportunity of seeing you face to face again, and even when it was clear that you depart this earth , I begged God to give you another opportunity just like he did to Hezekiah, so you’ll have the opportunity to fulfil your parental obligation to me in nearest but here we are planning a funeral.

As Christians we cannot question God, we are only consoled that all things work together for good. You were a strong man and you have fought the battles of life with everything in you, but it is obious this was beyond you and God gave permission.

Goodnight Dad, till we meet again.

SUN SET AT DAWN

Oh! can someone wake me up from this dream. Dad, I cannot believe you are no more. Dad you were my biggest fan and my great role model. I could call you at any time and you always have solution to my problems. Life is different without you, but i am grateful I got to call you my dad.

Dad, you were my hero. You were the most courageous and resoureful man. I never questioned if you loved or cared for me because you made it so obvious. Am really missing you Dad, never knew you would leave us suddenly.

You were a good man, you advised me and did your best to provide for my siblings and I. You tried your best in helping people.

I am saddened that death took you away, but God said in all things we should give him thanks.

Your death left a scar in our hearts, but your legacy will stand in our life.

We miss you Dad.

Adieu great man!

Adieu my hero!

AN INCREDIBLE MAN

My dad was an incredible man. He provided for his family and made sure his children had the guidance they needed. I am grateful for my dad. I miss him everyday.

Today i am remembering my dad and the great memories we shared. He was one of the kindest and my best friend.

There isn’t a day that goes by i don’t think of him and smile. My father was my biggest fan, my greatest role model. I could call him at any time, and he always has a solution to my problem.

Life is different without him, but i am grateful to call him my dad. When i remember my dad, I smile each time. Chief Ethelbert Iloh was a jokester, he made us all laugh, taught me not to take life too serious.

He was also in good spirit.

Keep resting dad, your legacy will never end.

I love you dad.

The news of your demise came to me as a shock. I remember puting a call across that faithful day and was told you were better, then suddenly, the news of your demise came. I least epected it, but i cannot question God, He knows better.

Chief rest in peace, Goodbye.

Chief Ethelbert Iloh, Ochiriozuo 1 of Isikwe Achi, that’s what people called you but i call you my master. Seems like yesterday that we were together, then I opened my eyes to realize you were gone forever.

I cannot still believe that you are gone sir. I am going to miss you my master, how we use to discuss and share things together like father and son. It pains our heart away to know you are not here with us for the rest of our lives.

Family parties and dinners would not be the same again because you are not with us anymore. There is going to be the same again because you are not with us anymore.

There is going to be that empty near that dinner table, would be empty and cold.

You are a man that gave us inspirational knowledge and enourage me to achieve my goals. You told us our right from wrong, and most of all, you put others before you.

Chief you are not going to be with us again, but I know you are beside us day and night sir, and you will forever be in our hearts.

It is going to feel like we are together, but above all my master, I will miss you.

Keep resting in peace daddy
